Phone lines aren’t dead yet — alarms, lifts, medical, legal and older nurse-call systems still depend on a working copper line. When yours stops working, the fault is almost always inside your premises, not at the network end.

What goes wrong

The boundary point corrodes (especially in coastal suburbs). Internal wiring gets damaged after renovations — sparkies sometimes cut a phone line that wasn’t on the drawings. Sockets fail from age. A power surge can take out a socket capacitor without affecting anything else. We’ve also seen rats chew through internal cabling more than once.

How we work it

Diagnosis visit is $150, fixed. Includes line test at the boundary, internal cabling inspection, socket continuity test, and a clear written summary of the fault. If we can fix it inside the visit (replace a socket, repair a small length of internal cabling), we do — no extra charge beyond the parts.

If it turns out to be Telstra or NBN Co’s network side, we tell you, give you exactly what to say to them so they can’t fob you off, and we don’t charge for the visit.

For larger jobs (rerunning internal phone wiring, alarm-panel-specific work), we quote in writing on the spot.

What you’ll have when we leave

Working dial tone, replaced socket if needed, line test results documented. 2-year workmanship warranty. We answer the phone if anything goes wrong inside the warranty period.

What clients say

★★★★★
“14-station office fitout in the CBD. Booked Friday, install over the weekend, certified test results emailed Monday morning. Tidy, professional, no surprises. The whole team came away talking about how unusual it was to have a contractor that actually answered the phone.”

“Telstra had been hopeless for months — kept blaming the modem, the modem kept blaming the line. Aussie Cabling came out next day, found a corroded NBN lead-in, replaced it. Test report on the spot. Six months in, zero issues.”

“Manage 8 commercial properties across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Aussie Cabling took over the cabling work after our last contractor disappeared mid-project. They picked up cleanly, finished the existing scope and re-certified everything. Now my only call.”

FAQ

Phone Line Repair — common questions

My phone line's dead — what's the cause? +
Usually one of three things — corroded boundary connection, broken internal wiring (often after a renovation or a rat), or a faulty wall socket. We diagnose all three on a single visit. Diagnosis is $150 fixed; if it turns out to be Telstra/NBN Co's side we don't charge.
Do many people still have a phone line? +
Yes — alarm panels, lift phones, fax machines (still common in legal and medical), back-of-house phone systems in older offices, and older nurse-call systems. Plenty of reasons to keep one alive.
Can you replace a wall socket? +
Yes. We'll come out, replace the socket with a modern equivalent, test the line at the new socket, and confirm dial tone before we leave. Single-socket jobs are usually $180-$240.
Will you fix it on the spot or quote first? +
Diagnosis is on the spot. If the fix is small (under an hour, no parts beyond a socket), we usually do it during the diagnosis visit. Anything bigger, we'll quote in writing before we proceed.
Do you provide a warranty? +
2-year workmanship warranty on every repair we do.
