Phone lines aren’t dead yet — alarms, lifts, medical, legal and older nurse-call systems still depend on a working copper line. When yours stops working, the fault is almost always inside your premises, not at the network end.
What goes wrong
The boundary point corrodes (especially in coastal suburbs). Internal wiring gets damaged after renovations — sparkies sometimes cut a phone line that wasn’t on the drawings. Sockets fail from age. A power surge can take out a socket capacitor without affecting anything else. We’ve also seen rats chew through internal cabling more than once.
How we work it
Diagnosis visit is $150, fixed. Includes line test at the boundary, internal cabling inspection, socket continuity test, and a clear written summary of the fault. If we can fix it inside the visit (replace a socket, repair a small length of internal cabling), we do — no extra charge beyond the parts.
If it turns out to be Telstra or NBN Co’s network side, we tell you, give you exactly what to say to them so they can’t fob you off, and we don’t charge for the visit.
For larger jobs (rerunning internal phone wiring, alarm-panel-specific work), we quote in writing on the spot.
What you’ll have when we leave
Working dial tone, replaced socket if needed, line test results documented. 2-year workmanship warranty. We answer the phone if anything goes wrong inside the warranty period.
